The rules for using Car Gauge Inspection reports. Last updated 20 September 2026.
1. What we provide
Car Gauge Inspection supplies vehicle history reports for UK-registered vehicles, compiled from DVLA, DVSA MOT, MIAFTR, HPI finance feeds, PNC stolen records, CAP/Glass's valuations and insurer data. Reports are information to support your buying decision. They are not a warranty, guarantee of condition, or substitute for viewing the vehicle, checking the V5C logbook and arranging an independent inspection.
2. Using a report
- Enter the registration or VIN carefully. Reports are only as accurate as the details you supply.
- One report covers one vehicle.
- Do not rely on a report alone. Always view the car, verify the VIN plate matches the V5C, and confirm finance and mileage with the seller before paying.
3. Data accuracy
We work to keep data current, but official records can change or contain errors made by third parties. If DVLA or another official source corrects a record within 30 days of your report, we will re-issue your report free of charge. Finance, tax and keeper status can change daily, so treat every report as a snapshot at the time of issue.
4. Pricing and payment
Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT at the current UK rate. If we cannot return data for your registration or VIN, you will not be charged, or you will be refunded in full. See our refund policy for detail.
5. Acceptable use
- Do not resell reports or scrape our data feeds.
- Do not use reports for unlawful purposes, harassment, or tracking a keeper.
- We may suspend access where misuse is suspected.
6. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. Otherwise, our liability for any report is limited to the price you paid for it, since a report is one input among many in a vehicle purchase. We are not liable for losses caused by errors in official third-party records, or for decisions made without viewing the vehicle.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales, though consumers in Scotland or Northern Ireland may also bring claims in their local courts.
